Temple Nutrition Principles
At American Ci Bei Temple, we honor the traditional Buddhist practice of vegetarian living while embracing modern nutritional science as the foundation for health management.
We believe that Buddhist practice should support both spiritual cultivation and physical well-being. A balanced vegetarian diet, together with sound nutritional knowledge, helps practitioners maintain health, mental clarity, and the energy needed for daily practice and compassionate service.
Our Principles
- Honor Buddhist Tradition
We uphold the Buddhist tradition of compassionate vegetarian living and mindful eating as an integral part of spiritual cultivation. - Follow Modern Nutritional Science
We respect Buddhist tradition while using modern nutritional science as the foundation for health management. - Maintain Nutritional Balance
A healthy vegetarian diet should provide adequate protein, vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and other essential nutrients to support lifelong health. - Support Health Through Practice
Buddhist practice should promote health, not compromise it. When individual health conditions require dietary adjustments, they should be made thoughtfully while preserving the spirit of Buddhist practice. - Practice with Wisdom and Compassion
Healthy eating is not only beneficial for ourselves but also enables us to better serve others through a life of wisdom, compassion, and mindful practice.
