Temple Overview
American Ci Bei Temple, established in New York City on June 30, 2024, is a Buddhist Zen organization under the spiritual leadership of Venerable Master Hong Yun, also known as Master Yi Yun, serves as the temple’s abbot and guiding mentor. Master Yi Yun provides both guidance and leadership to inspire the four-fold assembly of disciples in the practice of Mahayana Buddhism, emphasizing both Zen and Pure Land traditions to help practitioners achieve spiritual liberation and foster community growth.
The temple honors the Three Holy Beings of the Saha World—Shakyamuni Buddha, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva—alongside the Three Holy Beings of the Western Pure Land: Amitabha Buddha, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva. These revered figures embody wisdom and compassion, serving as guiding lights for all sentient beings on the path to enlightenment and rebirth in the Pure Land.
Mission and Goals
The temple is dedicated to transcending ignorance, promoting the righteous Dharma, enlightening society, and benefiting all sentient beings. Its mission is to spread the Dharma, provide spiritual guidance, and serve the community. By upholding the principles of Mahayana Buddhism, we guide individuals to overcome delusions, cultivate wisdom, and attain spiritual growth, ultimately leading them toward enlightenment and rebirth in the Pure Land.
Organizational Structure
To support its mission, the temple is organized into several key departments:
Board of Trustees: Oversees the temple’s strategy and ensures alignment with its mission.
American Ci Bei Temple Buddhist Association: Manages temple events, community outreach, and volunteer coordination.
Zen Hall: Dedicated to Zen meditation and communal Dharma assemblies, fostering inner peace and spiritual development.
World Zen Art Center (WZAC-NY): Dedicated to exploring the essence of Zen through meditation, calligraphy, monochromatic brush painting, and mindful tea practice.
New York Qimen Fengshui Academy (QMFSA-NY): Specializes in the preservation and advancement of Qimen Dunjia and Feng Shui, offering practical guidance for navigating life’s challenges through the wisdom of “seeking fortune and avoiding misfortune."

🔹 Abbot’s Introduction
Venerable Master Hong Yun, also honored as Master Yi Yun, is a renowned Zen master and abbot.
Dharma names: Cigu (Compassionate Ancient), Yinzheng (Seal of Realization)
Precept name: Yi Yun (One Cloud)
Honorific titles: Shang Yun (Transcending Clouds) and Hong Yun (meaning Vast Cloud), widely known as Master Hong Yun
Lay name: Gu Yixiong

Poetic epithets: Half-Monk of the Sangha, Ancient Ling of the Celestial Court
Studio name: Lingmiao Hermitage
Former name: Yang Penggu
He is a distinguished Zen artist, a Qimen Dunjia divination expert, and a spiritual leader. Currently, he serves as the Founding Abbot of American Ci Bei Temple and Chief Divination Consultant at the New York Qi Men Feng Shui Academy.
🔹 Artistic and Spiritual Contributions
Master Hong Yun has spent decades integrating Zen cultivation with artistic expression, developing a distinctive style rooted in Chan tradition. He specializes in Zen calligraphy, brush ink painting, Qimen Dunjia divination, and Feng Shui consultation. He also conducts blessing and memorial ceremonies, offering guidance to help devotees dispel misfortune and attract blessings.
Beloved by his followers in New York, he is committed to promoting global appreciation of Eastern Zen art. Through his teachings, he uplifts Buddhist practitioners and furthers his mission to preserve and share the essence of Zen Tao Art for future generations.
🔹 A Journey of Mastery
Born in Binzhou, China, in 1971, he graduated from the Department of Art at Xi’an United University. From a young age, he cultivated a deep interest in Zen and metaphysics, excelling in calligraphy and ink painting. Through decades of Zen practice and artistic creation, he has developed a unique style. He has previously served as Vice President of the China Zen Art Academy in Hong Kong, President of the World Zen Art Center, lecturer in calligraphy and painting at the Golden Eagle Institute in New York, and Zen Hall Supervisor at American Tianfo Temple.
At age 27, he took refuge at Great Ci’en Temple in Xi’an, marking his formal commitment to Buddhism. He later founded Peng-Gu Art Studio in Shenzhen and held leadership roles in Zen art institutions. His talents culminated in a successful painting exhibition in New York.
His spiritual path deepened under Elder Miao-Feng at Cihang Jingshe in New York. In 2013, he joined a pilgrimage to sacred Buddhist sites across China, including Lingyin Temple and Mount Putuo. He later traveled through fifteen states across the U.S. and Canada, immersing himself in East-West cultural dialogue.
At 51, he was appointed Zen Hall Supervisor at American Tianfo Temple. A year later, following a profound awakening, he entered monastic life as Yi Yun and studied Pure Land Dharma under Master Tian-Pei. In 2024, he founded the American Ci Bei Temple and became its inaugural abbot.

Master Hong Yun embodies the principles of Zen and Pure Land traditions—following the natural way, realizing emptiness, and attaining liberation through wisdom. His daily practice includes the recitation of Amitabha, guiding himself and others toward spiritual awakening. With unwavering dedication, he spreads the compassionate teachings of the Buddha for the benefit of all beings.
His lifelong motto after ordination is:
“Transcend ignorance, uphold the righteous Dharma, inspire society, and liberate all beings.”
美國慈悲寺介紹
美國慈悲寺是2024年6月30日在美國紐約市成立的佛教禪宗的宗教組織。首任住持由泓雲法師率四眾弟子護持弘法。本寺宗旨是,遠離無明,弘揚正法,警世導俗,倒駕慈航。宣揚大乘佛法與修行實踐,以佛法僧三寶為師,禪淨共修。推廣佛法傳播教化,服務社會。為紐約社區信眾提供了一個修行的道場和精神家園。
本寺供奉娑婆三聖和西方三聖。娑婆三聖,即釋迦摩尼佛是佛教教主,是凡人成佛的化身。左脅侍為觀世音菩薩,是救苦救難有求必應的化身。右脅侍為地藏王菩薩,是幽冥教主,也是孝子的化身,超拔冤親債主,消除宿世業障,求其冥福救贖;西方三聖,指西方極樂世界教主阿彌陀佛。左脅侍為觀世音菩薩,能伏外道魔憍慢。右脅侍為大勢至菩薩,以念佛證果為法界淨土初祖,恆念阿彌陀佛,以智慧之光普照一切,使人得到無上力量、威勢自在,接引眾生往生淨土。
本寺機構設有理事會,美國慈悲寺佛教會,禪堂,及世界禪藝術中心。禪堂恭設有往生蓮位、長生祿位、平安符、安太歲、光明燈等祈福信眾,消災解難。本寺在一雲法師的帶領下念佛共修,並有禪書法,和禪水墨畫講座,以及觀音靈簽、奇门遁甲占卜等服務。所有宗教活動對佛教徒都是免費服務,同時也接受信眾自願供養和功德捐款。

泓雲住持介紹
釋上雲,法名慈古、印証,戒名一雲,法號泓空、泓雲。以號行於世。國際禪林畫師。美國慈悲寺首任開山住持,紐約奇門風水研究院首席預測師。俗名古一雄,字龗子。別號沙門半僧、天庭古龗,齋名龗淼精舍。曾用名楊鵬古。1971年生於中國彬州,1995年畢業於西安聯合大學師範學院藝術系。自幼喜研禪道玄學,擅長書畫墨道。參禪行藝實踐數十載,自成一家。歷任世界禪藝術研究院院長,中國禪林畫院(HK)副院長,紐約金鷹學院書畫講師,美國天佛寺禪堂堂主。
專業領域
法師擅禪書畫,共修念佛、解觀音靈籤、奇門測運、化解太歲、陽宅灑淨、陰宅安葬、祈福消災,並擇菩薩降壇時辰開壇施法,以感應觀世音菩薩大慈大悲救苦救難,為人排憂解難,引導眾生向善學佛,遷善改運和早證佛果!

履歷紀要
1995年:工作於陝西省興平航空機輪公司。
1997年:離職下海從事美術培訓工作。於中國西安大慈恩寺皈依。
1998年:被聘為陝西省書畫培訓學院國畫家。
2000年:移居深圳創辦鵬古書畫工作室,開始畫家職業生涯。
2001年:聘為中國延安國畫院理事、陝西省美術館外聘美術師。
2003年9月:應日本日中文化協會邀請赴日參加日中文化藝術交流展。
2004年:聘為內蒙古書畫研究院書畫家。
2005年:7月赴港出任中國禅林畫院(HK)副院長兼秘書長主持工作。10月赴北京人民大會堂出席中華魂-慶祝建國56周年全國書畫名家國慶聯誼會。同年的10月,作品《黃河》入選中美舊金山中國書畫國際大展,並獲得國際榮譽金獎和中美“國際傑出書畫藝術家”稱號。

2023年9月:拜紐約天沛法師為師,學習净土法門。
